About Us
Mbibo is built on a simple belief: data has the power to transform everything. Mbibo was founded (originally as FarmDirect) by Producers Direct, an award-winning farmer-led organisation that has spent over a decade co-designing digital tools with smallholder farmers across East Africa and Latin America. Through this work, Producers Direct saw a persistent challenge: farmers were producing valuable data every day, but buyers lacked visibility, and farmers lacked a trusted, farmer-centered platform to translate that data into real economic opportunity.
Mbibo was created to close this gap. We are obsessed with the idea of using data to unlock productivity and eliminate agricultural supply chain inefficiencies for both produce buyers and farmers in Uganda, where such information remains scattered and mostly unavailable. Mbibo is a Ugandan local-language term meaning a seed intended for planting and multiplication
